New Active Weight Courses starting April 2018

Spring into Summer with our FREE, ten week Active Weight Courses – starting April 2018.  New sessions added in Parbold and Tarletong.

  1.  Burscough: Tuesdays 9.45am -12noon at Burscough Methodist Church, Orrell Lane, Burscough, L40 0SG – (with 11am – 12pm optional exercise is Tai Chi.  Booking essential)
  2. Skelmersdale: Wednesdays 1.30pm-3.15pm at Greenhill Community Hub, Beech Close, Skelmersdale WN8 8DL
  3. Parbold:  Wednesdays, 9.30am – 11.15am, Parbold W.I, 2 Station Road, Parbold, WN8 7HA.
  4. Tarleton:  Thursdays, 10am – 11.45am at Our Lady’s Catholic Church Hall, 152 Hesketh Lane, Tarleton, PR4 6AS

The second half of the session will involve some gentle exercise/activity. Whilst this is advisable, it is optional!

Booking is essential – limited places available.

 

Couch to 5K starting in Bickerstaffe

Active West Lancs is launching a new 12 week beginner running programme in Bickerstaffe.  The Couch-to-5K group will meet every Monday and Wednesday starting on Monday 9th April 2018 at 6pm at Bickerstaffe C E School, Hall Lane, Bickerstaffe, Ormskirk L39 0EH.

Come and join us at the Active West Lancs ‘Energise’ Exercise class @ West Lancs Youth Zone (opposite Nye Bevan, Skelmersdale) Mondays 9.30am-10.30am.

Aimed at beginners and those wanting to get more active in 2018 – no need to book, just turn up!

Health Walks 2018

Stride out in the new year and walk your way to better health!

Let your feet hit the street in 2018 by joining West Lancashire Borough Council’s health walks

Grab some comfortable walking shoes and join our walk leaders for short, sociable walks across different locations in West Lancashire

Walks are open to all, are approximately one hour long and a well-earned ‘cuppa’ awaits you at the end of the walks. You don’t have to book in advance, so come along and get some fresh air into your lungs.

The weekly health walks start again in January 2018. The meeting points for the walks are as follows:

Tuesdays, 10am-11am, starting from the bowling pavilion at Richmond Park, Burscough, L40 2XY
Tuesdays, 10.30 – 11.30am meet at the Visitor Centre at Beacon Country park, Upholland WN8 7RU
Wednesdays, 1pm-2pm, starting from the bowling pavilion at Coronation Park, Ormskirk, L39 3BY
Thursdays, 10am-11am from Banks Leisure Centre, Banks, PR9 8BL

Walks will take in a mixture of on-street footways and off-street paths. Please wear suitable clothing and footwear for the weather and ground conditions.

Active golf

Active Golf  is a brand new initiative for you to be referred into by your GP or medical practitioner.

Active West Lancs will be holding weekly golf sessions on Fridays, 10am -1 2pm at Beacon Golf Club, Upholland WN8 7RU.

Equipment can be borrowed on the day – no previous golf experience needed!  So if you fancy some fresh air, meeting new people and socialising, then have a chat with your GP and if you meet the criteria, then you can be referred.
