Walking Football sessions

Walking Football sessions are being held in Ormskirk School, Wigan Road L39 2AT on Wednesdays at 5 – 6 pm

Aimed at the over 50s, Walking Football matches are played at a slower pace with players briskly walking through matches – with no running allowed.  This reduces pain, discomfort and injury and allows people who have loved the sport to once again safely get back to playing.  It also introduces the sport to people who perhaps have never considered playing before.

It is fun, friendly and can help you feel fitter and healthier!

Couch to 5K congratulations

Active West Lancs’ latest Couch to 5K course finished last night.  Congratulations to all the completers – you’re an inspiration!

Tai Chi in the Tawd

You are invited to relax and rejuvenate in the beautiful surroundings of Tawd Valley Park this summer.

From July 27th, Active West Lancs will be running FREE Tai Chi sessions in the park every Saturday from 12noon to 1pm – for 6 weeks only.

Meet at Skelmersdale Library at 11.45am and please wear non-restrictive clothing and comfortable footwear.

Try your hand at fencing…

If you are interested in having a go at the Olympic sport of fencing, Active West Lancs associate partner West Lancs Fencing is running another 5 week beginners’ course starting on Wednesday 3rd July 2019.

The sessions will be held during their Wednesday Club nights in the Gym at Edge Hill University in Ormskirk between 8pm and 10pm. There is a minimum age of 12 years.

Why not go along and try this most dramatic of sports?

All sessions include:

– Training by a BFA qualified coach
– All equipment hire (mask, jacket, under plastron and foil)
– BFA insurance

The beginners courses last for five weeks and are designed to teach new fencers the basic techniques of foil fencing, the rules of the sport and, most importantly, how to fence safely.

There is a £35 cost for the course to help is cover the hall hire and coaching fees, however all the fencing uniform and kit that participants need is provided.
