Active West Lancs grants awarded

Active West Lancs has awarded its first grants designed to help groups in West Lancs get people more active

Funding can be applied for a variety of activities such as running free taster sessions, discounting subsequent membership fees for disadvantaged individuals or simply raising the profile of the activities that your organisation runs by improved marketing and publicity campaigns.  All the activity will be aimed at getting more people active and by so doing help to improve either their mental or physical health.

The following organisations have been successful in their applications:

  • Power of Music – has been awarded £500 towards the costs of setting up and running a new Community Choir in Hesketh Bank  This will follow on from the success of the Songbirds Choir which they have run in Ormskirk for the past four years, to provide an opportunity for those in the northern parishes to get active by singing.   For more information contact Jacqui on 07710 756894 or through their website.
  • West Lancs Fencing Club – has been awarded £409 towards the cost of promoting and running seven taster sessions.  These will be aimed at introducing 84 new people to the sport of fencing.
